I am a child of God who chooses to walk with Him each day. But I don't think people would call me "stuffy" or "religious!"

One of my passions is birding (I'm an amateur, but very avid), and wherever I go for whatever reason, I'll always include birding in the trip. I've been known to get up at 3:30 a.m. to listen for birds (but NOT very often!).

The outdoors usually beckons me at all times. Not only do I love birding, but also gardening, walking, swimming, etc. I also enjoy knitting, spinning, and I used to play the piano. I've lost a lot by not practicing, so I'm trying to get that back.

Although I'm Appalachian, I have lived in the Midwest for awhile, and learned to at least LIVE without seeing a mountain! Still can't tell directions without that mountain, though :)

I currently am developing online CEU's for teachers K-12 who need to be re-certified. I also teach undergraduate religion for a distance education university, co-teach a master's level education class, and do spiritual life coaching on the side.

I'm vegetarian and prefer to be vegan (healthy eater, but do love that chocolate :), and I can take care of my own food.

I don't travel that often anymore, but would like to travel more. I enjoy meeting new people and seeing different parts of the world -- especially as it pertains to birds :)

The one Couchsurfing experience I've had so far was wonderful and I'm very open for doing it again!

兴趣

In my free time I obviously go birding, especially during migration, and gardening in the summer. I've knitted socks, fingerless gloves, and one Scandinavian sweater, but haven't knitted in awhile. A friend got me into spinning with a drop spindle, so I've been enjoying that as well.

I love Bible study, teaching, watching people grow in the Lord and into the person they are meant to be, and music. I'm usually interested in most things. That can be a real hassle, as it's hard for me to narrow down. There's so much interesting in the world!

As for music, I'm Appalachian! Bluegrass, Country, Old Time, all are favorites. But since I took music in college I also enjoy classical. And of course, Gospel in any of those categories.

I play piano a bit, and when I pick them up, I can play autoharp, mountain dulcimer, harmonica. Would love to play guitar . . . sigh. So many interests!

Movies -- I like drama. Not really a chick-flick fan. I love Hunt for Red October, Dances With Wolves, Air Force One, etc.

Books -- sometimes I read a story, but mostly I use books as reference for writing the CEU classes!

In the area of travel, I loved flying from Fairbanks across the Brooks Range in Alaska -- the whole Alaska trip was great, as was the Hawaii trip, and the few trips I've taken to Europe, Turkey, and Israel. I've been in all 50 states. The last 5 I got by camping through them to get to a final destination.
