Hi to everyone, I'm Paul, 34 years old from Rome. I work on tourism but I have several passions for which I spend a lot of my freetime. First of all music: I am a piano player and I love to compose : this is the best way to express myself (see my website shiraz-art-project.com to listen to some of my compositions). I also love to write and read books and poems, cinema, philosophy and spiritual matters. My motto is 'to go beyond' and I try in every second of my life to do that and not to stop on surface of reality. Life, in my opinion, is discovering and learning... everything else could be or necessary for that or maybe simply a waste of time and energy! I am a very positive person, curiosity is my force, smile is my gift, love in a universal sense is my goal. I'm very respectful, clean , easy-going, funny and always looking for new inputs and interesting persons to share some good conversations about life experience, different points of view.

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

I had the chance to travel and be guided from people living there and then I realized that this kind of travel is the best you could ever have. I'm not looking for a way to save money for hotels and basically I don't need a couch. My goal is to meet interesting people and to understand what it means to live there, in a place that is different, with a different language and a different culture. This could help me to understand who I am, besides what is 'me' because I am italian, because I live in Rome, eating spaghetti and so on. Only when a fish swims on the sky, it understands what is the ocean!
My preffered way to travel is by bike. I experimented it recently and I could never go ahead. I'm equipped with a tent and sleep bag with which I can sleep in the middle of nature and be indipendent from hotels, public transportation and so on. This is the real freedom!

Interesses

I'm a kind of artist, but I don't want to be a professionist because money always pollute inspiration. So I prefer to be free to do what I want... maybe tomorrow I could paint or be a sculptor, who knows? Anyway this must be separated from my need to go to supermarket everyday and survive in this jungle. Someone could says that it's a shame but I am satisfied in this way! Besides music, writing, I like to cook (above all italian recipes) and to experiment different cousines and tastes from around the world. My myth is absolutely Ulysses and I guess there is not other better way to describe the goal of every human being.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

About music, I love EVERYTHING starts with '70 regardless of the genre. In my opinion in that period they created the best pieces of all the times. In the same time I love also jazz, new age, blues, classic and everything speaks to souls and not only to ears. Movies.. oh my god, there are so many! As I am in couchsurfing, I could mention 'Into the wild' saying that 'happiness is nothing if you can't share it!'. Books: many and many...I love romances, great poets as Neruda, but the best teaching books are the Osho's and Gurdjeff's ones.
