About Me

I am a respectful, inquisitive person. Love growth, learning, discovering, exploring, innovation, synergy. I have been travelling around Europe now for over a year and it's amazing how my plans have changed from the original! I love it. It has made me so much more open-minded and let go. It's a work in progress haha.

I would like to live in different cultures, find out how people live, feel and think. Maybe I was a philosopher in another life. Certainly wouldn't mind studying that now.
So far, I have lived with families of various European and Asian backgrounds and been absorbed in their life. Opening my eyes to life with kids, animals and all kinds of personalities. Too much to say here, ask me when we meet. Central to all of these experiences is the value of learning about what drives them, what is important to them, how they deal with different situations and then what I feel when I'm around them. And sometimes looking at why I feel this way.

When I lived in Bristol, I was introduced to Buddhism. This has changed the way I see things and how I interact with people, animals even insects. It gives me a tool to deal with negative experiences and some self analysis. Love it :) So much so that I've been volunteering at different centres around the world. A beautiful way to keep involved with the community, give back and as well travel! But don't worry, I'm not going to go on about it. But more than happy to talk about it when we meet.

I am a clean person and like cooking and healthy living. I swing out of that every now an then but who doesn't ;) I love nature, mountains, lakes, beautiful scenery and hiking. Watching and appreciating the environment around me is pretty special too, whether it be mountains, rivers, lakes, clouds, rain, trees, sheep, cows, everything!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think this is a great way to meet people and live in their community. Talk to them about their experiences in life, learn from them and of course share my knowledge and experiences too.

Travelling to places is great, but it's the people and experiences that tend to stick :)

Interests

So many. Life, health, engineering, systems ie how things connect, why things came to be the way they were, learning, bushwalking, philosophy, understanding how people think. Food! Both eating and cooking. Yoga, buddhism, volunteering, music, peace.

Music, Movies, and Books

Mainstream music. Music with a good beat, soul. Ballads, instrumental, pop.

Love movies that make you think: Closer, some French movies just because they are so different from US and give an insight into French culture, some kung fun movies

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quitting my job to go traveling and discover opportunities. This was really difficult for me. I was unhappy for a long time. It took me almost a year of actively trying to understand what the issue was before I could make the decision to leave the security of my job. Then plucking up the courage to actually quit and step out into the unknown. Happy to talk more on this when we meet :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am fluent in English so can certainly help with that. I'm good at math so can help with that too :) Some Chinese language, culture and food.

I would like to learn different languages and cultures, experiences, almost anything!

I can share my experiences and journey through life so far.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I said above, all my experiences. Basic Chinese recipes? It would be my pleasure to cook some meals for you in return for your hospitality.
