ABOUT ME

I enjoy meeting serious people with an interest in living life in out of the way places. Sharing life's experiences late into the night in a civil-war torn peoples bar in Colombia etc, in the shade of "seedy" places. I like sports, especially soccer,karate and golf.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I wish there were more CS members 50 and older who bear the scars of life that I would like to listen to and add to my own in exchange.

Music, Movies, and Books

Caribbean rhythms like merengue, salsa, bachata, calypso, soca etc. Books on people, places and politics with an underlying socio-economic theme, like those of Jorge Amado and Garcia Marquez. Poems by Hafez, Khayyam, Tagore, Rosalia di Castro, Anna Akhmatova, Marina Tseteva, Julia de Burgos, Gabriela Mistral and the many others who express profound beauty in sadness in a way few can.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Golfed in the only 9-hole course in the entire Brazilian Amazon.
