Overview
About Me
I recently graduated from college and I have a Bachelors degree in history and environmental sciences. I learned Italian in college and did my thesis research in Rome, Italy! Traveling around until I start working full time and just got on Couchsurfing. In my free time I like learning about history, reading memoirs, listening to podcasts, thrift shopping and volunteering. At home in Virginia and the DC metro area I like to hangout with friends by eating, going to movies and local concerts, and going to museum exhibits. Hmm lastly, here’s a weird fact about me. Despite living close to it, I’ve never been to New York City...I’ll get there someday!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I recently got on couchsurfing in the middle of my travels because I like to meet new people while traveling! When I get back home I’d love to see what my local couchsurfing community is like!

Music, Movies, and Books
I had a big country music phase in high school (I still adore Brooks & Dunn), but now I often listen to pop 🤷♀️ I also love listening to podcasts like NPR’s How I Built This. I prefer nonfiction to fiction for books but I’m open to any book suggestions! The books that influenced me the most in college were In Altre Parole by Jhumpa Lahiri, True North by Jill Kerr Conway, and La Mia Casa È Dove Sono by Igiaba Scego. Some of the best books I read recently include Into the Abyss into Carol Shaben and Born a Crime by Trevor Noah.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I won a short story writing contest in 3rd grade and my story got turned into a play by a community theater group (I’ll think of something more recent don’t worry)
Teach, Learn, Share
I’d love to learn about language and culture wherever I go :) in fact, if anyone wants to help me practice Italian, sarebbe ottimo 👌 but I’m down to learn anything from couchsurfers and in exchange I can share my own weird travel stories, help with English, offer company exploring museums or sites, whatever :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I armed with lots of history fun facts as a former history major in college and it’s a bit of a niche interest but I can explain how historical research works if there are any aspiring historians or people curious about what historians do out there!! As a native English speaker (and English as a second language classroom volunteer in college), I can help you practice English or just chat to have some company.
