About Me

Hello! I'm 21yrs old Japanese guy from Tokyo.
Call me Shota or Shouta!

I'm a student of civil engineering at Kyoto Uni.

Until the summer of 2019, I'll be in the NETHERLANDS for my exchange!
During my stay here, I want to explore places that are too far from Japan, as much as possible!
Also I want to do something that I don't have many chances to do in Japan.

I like outdoor activities like sports, hiking, swimming, etc.
I like eating foods.
I don't smoke at all.
i'm not religious. I don't have allergy, no food restriction

I cannot offer an accommodation unfortunately but I can hung out together when you visit Kyoto after I go back to Japan :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I look back into the memory of a trip, a thing I first remember is the people I met on the way. They can be a friendly owner of a hostel, a guy who taught me the directions kindly when I got lost, hostel roommate I went to a bar with...

I don't want to end my trip only with visiting sightseeing spots that are introduced in guide books.
Rather, I want to interact with local people and make my stay more memorable and enjoyable!

Interests

I love sports, especially playing them myself more than watching. I have ever practiced karate, swimming, soccer and athletics(middle distance run).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2017 summer, I joined a volunteering work camp in a small village in France. It was about 1 month long. There I met and stayed with 10 people from other countries and made a simple wooden house for the bats to hibernate in winter. We did some other volunteering activities like helping prepare a festival by collaborating with local people.

It was my first time to travel alone. And it was abroad. Japan and France have very different culture so this experience was a big thing for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach things related to Japan, Japanese culture and our language.
Also I can teach how to cook Japanese foods if you are interested in cooking. (I'm not expert though :))

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories about our life, culture in Japan. Also differences I find between your culture and ours.
And small Japanese present like magnet, bookmark etc

Countries I’ve Visited
