Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Shu — based in Beijing.
I’m an independent business consultant helping AI companies expand globally. That means I often travel to places with vibrant AI communities — like the US, Japan, and Indonesia.
Before, I used to be an Airbnb host here in Beijing, and I really enjoyed meeting travelers from around the world.
Now, I live in a cozy three-bedroom apartment about 6 km from the Forbidden City, near the CBD area. I live with my 5-year-old daughter, and together we’re practicing world schooling — exploring different countries, joining local schools, and learning from everyday life.
I’d love to host travelers from around the world for short stays (1–3 days). During your visit, I’d appreciate it if you could spend a little time chatting or playing with my daughter — she loves meeting new friends!
I’m passionate about food, culture, and meaningful conversations with locals and travelers alike.
Welcome to Beijing!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My first Couchsurfing experience was during a solo trip to the Arctic. When I visited Yellowknife in Canada, I was warmly welcomed by a local host who made my journey unforgettable. That experience allowed me to truly feel the warmth of local life, far beyond what any hotel could offer.
Later, I became a host myself in Beijing and welcomed guests from different countries. Each encounter gave me new perspectives, insights, and friendships that I deeply cherish.
I truly love the spirit of Couchsurfing — the kindness, curiosity, and openness it brings. For me, it’s not just a way to find accommodation, but a way of living — sharing stories, cultures, and everyday life with people from around the world.
Interests
I love traveling — especially to the countryside and into nature rather than big cities. One of my dreams is to sit on top of a jeep in Africa, painting the endless horizon.
I enjoy exploring off-the-beaten-path places, whether abroad or here in Beijing. Maybe we can discover some hidden spots together!
I’m also passionate about outdoor activities — running marathons, playing tennis, golf, and rock climbing. I’m not a pro at any of them, but I love trying new things and staying active.
And of course — food! I’m a huge foodie and love discovering local dishes wherever I go. I’d be thrilled to cook together or explore local restaurants with my hosts or guests.
