About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get home to South Dakota

ABOUT ME

I am a very laid back individual who lives by a philosophy of "you end up where you need to be." Every situation has something to learn. I am one of those lucky people in the world who has found a career path that mirrors my interests. I like to spend time outside. Hike, bike, ski, or just picking up some new natural history knowledge occupies much of my time. In turn I work as an environmental educator where I take groups of students outside to experience and learn about the natural world.

PHILOSOPHY

you end up where you need to be

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just getting into CS.  I'm trying to use it to get home to South Dakota from Oregon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I personally have not done any couch surfing through this site. I have stayed at friends homes while couch surfers where also staying there. Good times were had by all.

Interests

In addition to outdoor adventure I spend a lot of time plucking notes on my guitar. It is my therapy and way to actively pass time. I've never owned a TV so I find other creative outlets for my time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a fan of a good story. One with interesting characters and interactions. Acoustic songwriters that have a good story to tell draw me in. I also like to hear some louder sounds as well. As for books, I always have one by my bed and am looking for the next good story . I've been in grad school so I just spent a year reading scientific journals and am now looking forward to immersing myself in the fiction world again. Any book suggestions would be welcome.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lived in a different place and had a different job for the month of June each of the last 10 years. There are amazing things to see and do everywhere.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a storyteller. I've put together a program called "Heading outside" where I tell stories about interesting moments in the outdoors.
