To photograph Antarctica, but from the penguins or icebergs angle.
I was born in Shanghai, China and immigrated to Sydney, Australia when I was five. I still have some memories of my birth city, but Sydney is definitely home now.
I graduated from a design degree earlier this year, but have realised since that my passion lies in photography. I'm now working hard to make this dream a reality.
Ideally, I would like to specialise in portrait photography, for human interest publications. I think a strong narrative is important in photo essays, and that just taking pretty pictures is nice if they're for your own collection, but pointless if you're looking to be a pro photographer.
I recently won a travel photography scholarship to Antarctica, so will be travelling to Argentina and Antarctica Feb/Mar 2010. This is my main reason for joining CouchSurfing, as I don't have any set plans for Argentina and would just like to get to know people and the city.
You only have one life so better make it count!
Overly obvious and cheesy but sums it up quiet nicely. The world is wide and there's so much to see / explore / understand / live. I don't understand why anyone would waste time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to the CS Project, so the best that I've done is tell people I've joined and am enjoying it so far!
I have a few friends who have hosted CouchSurfers, it's great to see new friendships being formed. I've surfed before myself, but with a friend who was registered. Had a great time and met some wonderful friends.
Everyone I know involved in CS has had good experiences, so I'm trying it out for myself
Photography and design mainly, but those two areas of interest draws from basically everything in life - so I'll have to say life and how people live their lives as what I'm primarily interested in.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There've been many amazing moments in my life, but when described they probably don't have my meaning to other people.
One amazing thing I hope to do soon, is to go to Antarctica and create a strong photo essay, but not with penguins or ice bergs as the main attraction.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn some basic Spanish while in Argentina, and to learn something of the way of life and the daily rhythms and culture of the country.
I'm happy to share my knowledge of cameras and philosophy on photography.
