About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live, to learn, to grow, to smile, to respect and embrace other cultures and friendships

ABOUT ME

3 years ago, a young Pakistani mathematician decided to apply to grad schools in the States. He was young, foolish and idealistic about higher learning. Flash forward, and here I am! I'm living it up, learning about American culture and norms, meeting cool people and living the American dream of opportunity and excitement.

PHILOSOPHY

Learn, grow, discover and expand. Show respect for self, affection to others, and learn from your mistakes. No one's perfect, but we can always learn to treat others - and ourselves- better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a few very cool people. A wonderful Frenchman Renee, travelling the world on a 5 year adventure. And an earnest ocean studies post doc, who got me admission in a fascinating conference on the field here in Utah.

I also spent a lovely few days in Washington being hosted by a kind gentleman Randall and his daughter.

Interests

Fine cuisine. Red wine! Cultural experiences, literature and overthinking the meaning of life and how societal context influences the way we interact as human beings

Music, Movies, and Books

Books are my first and final love. The list of favorites varies but currently - "geometric Graph theory" by Janos Pach, "The tin drum" by Grass, and "the Idiot" by Dostovesky.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The International Physics Olympiad in Korea. Meeting all the outgoing, lively young scientists there, for the first time I realized the beauty of a life of the mind, and how it intertwines with cultural openness, sensitivity and inclusiveness. And I had a crush on a very pretty Polish girl who told me all about her affection for Polish culture and history- my first real friendship with someone of another ethnicity :).

Teach, Learn, Share

Discrete math, algorithms and how to approach research math and CS problems :).

Countries I’ve Visited

India, South Korea
