About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get to know local CS community in Seattle, and possibly host surfers.

ABOUT ME

By descent- I'm a Bengali (the Indian portion of the state from where Bangladesh was carved out). Grew up in Delhi/Chandigarh for the most of my life. Was lucky to get 2 internships in Europe- the first one at Netherlands in 2010, the second at UK in 2012. Traveled lots, alone as well as with groups. Discovered lots about life there.

I can alternate between being humorous, and having thoughtful conversations on various philosophical, political, literary aspects. I like reading, writing and quizzing. Have watched few movies-- mainly thought-provoking ones. I love sports- but am not acquainted nicely with the American ones. Got the golden opportunity to watch London 2012 Live. Also UK afforded me the awesome opportunity to listen to two of my favorite performers- Paul Simon (London), Pearl Jam (Manchester). I've learnt a lot from life, yet to learn lots.

PHILOSOPHY

Disillusionment creeps in if you have some hardcore philosophies sooner or later, and after a stage it is just a matter of holding on to it for the sake of it.
Thus I believe randomness governs life. The more random it is, the more fun. Randomness gives the only scope to break past the societal norms and create your own dream world, when you don't plan everything and just let yourself flow.

Do I sound too much like Joker? :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

See Couch-Description for my hosting preferences.

Found amazing hosts in Chicago, Dallas and Austin to make my stay comfortable and incredible. These hosts have gone out of their way to ensure I had a good time in their city.

Have hosted twice- in Swindon, UK. One was a French girl, another a young Polish couple.

Mostly I have used the website for get-togethers though, and it's been lots of fun getting to know lots of fun people. I'm pretty active in the Madison couchsurfing community, and would be one of the organizing members for Madison Couch Crash:

Do come if you can :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CS ensured varying company for me across UK and good times. Getting to know people from different parts of the world, seeing places with them offed a new perspective. Most of these get-togethers were in the beautiful city of London. Sometimes I kept contact with some of them to go to parties and other places. So I enjoyed using the website a lot.

Interests

Traveling, philosophizing, reading.

I am fascinated by knowledge and kill lots of time on Wikipedia. Another Silicon Valley website called Quora has caught my attention for about a year where I write a lot.

Grew up as a sports fan watching every sport. However love following football, tennis, cricket as well as the Olympics- especially Swimming, Athletics. Have tried my hands at most of them and suck at most :)

Love Music from the '60s and '70s.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A tragic adventure which became amazing in hindsight. 4 consecutive nightouts in train stations, bus stations and outside.

1st night: Stonehenge Summer Solstice Festival, everything was just so good until it rained so hard. Spent the rest of the night searching for shelter. Went directly to Manchester. Slept a little on the bus.

2nd night: Had no accommodation since had bus at 5:30 AM. Kept sitting in the bus station.

3rd night: Somehow spent an unplanned night in a club in Oxford rather than taking rest. After the club closed and before the first bus, in the train station.

4th night: CS tragedy at Liverpool. Kept loitering, found some space in the lounge of one of the apartments.

Came back home to sleep for 16 hours straight. The sleep was amazing :)

Some amazing things otherwise:
Stonehenge Summer Solstice Festival- it was too good

Escher Museum (Hague, Netherlands)- mindblowing

The culture at Amsterdam, Netherlands

Top of Skandgiri mountain near Bangalore, India - among the clouds

Teach, Learn, Share

Do you want to learn Mathematics? :D I suppose writing equations here would ruin my profile, so I better not.

Also can teach lots about Indian culture.

Countries I’ve Visited
