About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Following my bliss while I finishing my diss

ABOUT ME

I am an easy going, friend and family oriented, honest, fun loving, naturally curious, and respectful. I love learning about new people and cultures and am addicted to traveling. I love meeting new people as well as developing civil society: the idea of doing things without having to go through "for profit" agents. I am generally clean without being obnoxious about it, respectful, and open minded.

PHILOSOPHY

"I've decided to be happy because it was better for my health." Voltaire. Being kind to people is socially efficient and enormously enriching. Social justice is a moral imperative.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am totally new to the community but love the idea. I am currently in the United States but will return to Paris, France in August, after which time I would be happy to participate in supporting the community in any way I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As I said above, I am new. A friend of mine from Berkeley, traveling through Europe introduced me to this site. I love the concept. I have always believed in the importance of building relationships, networks, and simply "paying it forward". I am sociable by nature and have loved hosting people in the past.

Interests

Reading, thinking, conversation, running, planning racquet ball, handball, hiking, watching films, traveling, making friends, cooking, eathing, good wine, live concerts, singing (badly) broadway musicals, politics, the history of (all) religions, philosophy, and in general being open to having a good time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh my God. Well, TV: I grew up in the 70s so I am partial to All in the Family, SNL (old school ones), Good Times. In the last two decades, I almost only watch HBO when I'm in the States, that means OZ, Sopranos, Rome, Denis Miller, Bill Maher, and on comedy central Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report. I also like vintage Simpson's, the Family Guy, Southpark and Dr. Katz.

Music: the list is way too long. Genres are Salsa, Reggaeton, baladas, folk music, alternative and indie rock, french pop from the 60s-90s, vintage rap (with some contemporary exceptions like Emenem), classical, jazz, blues, and gypsy/world music.

books...to be continued.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

lived homeless for 4 1/2 months in paris.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am willing to teach English, Spanish or French as well as general history, world history and especially French/European history. I am also willing to give pointers on writing.

What I'd like to learn is database (SQL), italian, russian, german, latin, and arabic.
