Über mich

ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Austin, Texas. I'm still very fresh to Couchsurfing (though I've had numerous positive experiences with Airbnb, both staying and hosting), and after a wonderful experience with it while on a solo road trip on the west coast of the US this past summer, I am very excited to become more a part of this wonderful community.

I'm respectful and self-sufficient. I love people and meeting all different kinds of folk. I'm happy sitting together and talking, but can also read for hours. I studied Shakespeare at the Globe in London for 6 months a few years back and traveled to Amsterdam, Edinburgh, and Dublin while there. I am currently moving around Southeast Asia and will be transitioning to Europe. I've been to Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Dubai, and London so far, and will be heading to Turkey next.

PHILOSOPHY

Love>Fear

“Cherish your solitude. Take trains by yourself to places you have never been. Sleep out alone under the stars. Learn how to drive a stick shift. Go so far away that you stop being afraid of not coming back. Say no when you don’t want to do something. Say yes if your instincts are strong, even if everyone around you disagrees. Decide whether you want to be liked or admired. Decide if fitting in is more important than finding out what you’re doing here. Believe in kissing.” -Eve Ensler

"What would you do if you were not afraid?"

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I'm on Couchsurfing because I love human connection and befriending people from all over the world. I like feeling within the community when I'm traveling. Also, the faith in humanity that is restored through the kindness of strangers...it is so so good!

Interessen

I received a BFA in Acting from the conservatory program at Rutgers University. Though my specialization is in Acting, I love all aspects of theatre--design, direction, stage management, construction, etc. I love movies and stories of all sorts. I love words and Shakespeare and poetry. I love being healthy and being outside. Growing up, my family did a lot of camping, rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding, sailing, and road tripping. While I love being outside and in nature, I also love being in cities--I could spend a whole trip wandering around, seeing plays/movies, and finding delightful places to eat. I love good food and good drink, all in good balance. I love being in water. I love hiking. I have aspirations of joining my dad on a long trail thru-hike (probably either the Appalachian Trail or the Pacific Crest Trail) in the coming years. I did a Vipassana 10 day silent meditation this past summer on my trip, and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. After I moved past the "I'm never meditating again!" stage, I've been working to keep a daily meditation practice and that's become a high interest of mine.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Some things that have felt particularly big for me are:
- performing at the Globe Theatre in London during my conservatory training
- running the Philadelphia Marathon with barely any training (I don't necessarily recommend it, but it happened)
- deciding last minute to not renew my lease in NYC without much of a plan (to be continued...)

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

-I can bake a mean blackberry cobbler (my Great Grandma's Texas Recipe)
-I love dogs and babies--I'm a Red Cross certified babysitter and also certified in CPR and First Aid, so if you have a little one that need watching or a dog that needs walking I'd be glad to help!
