About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Getting to know my new community in San Diego. Living in Ocean Beach, teaching part-time, surfing, climbing, and having fun outside and in the city whenever I can:)

ABOUT ME

I moved from Long Beach to San Diego last year (2024) with my husband and dog. We lived in Long Beach for seven years prior where I was a middle school teacher with LA public schools and he finished residency.
I loved LA and Long Beach, but excited for what San Diego has to offer. I travel in my time off, love surf trips, enjoy climbing, and like exploring new places around the city and in the great outdoors.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about Couch Surfing in my twenties and would visit a host every other city or so while on my first solo urban backpacking Europe trip in 2011. I remember feeling intimidated but loved the concept. Once I mustered up the courage to try CS out for the first time in Budapest, I was genuinely awestruck by how many wonderful people were out there willing to share their time and the places that were special to them. When I love in Taiwan for a year in 2013, I met a lot of great people through the Taipei meet-up and made climbing buddies through the site. A few years later, I hosted a few times to pay it forward.
Through each of the different facets of Couch Surfing-being hosted, meet ups, and hosting others- I gained a greater appreciation for an open door policy. CS always felt like a generous and more reciprocal way of interacting with the world that l'd like to reconnect with again.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've enjoyed checking out the smaller venues around San
Diego- prices are much better than bigger shows nowadays and there's a lot of good music I wouldn't have discovered otherwise. I read in my downtime and love adding book recs to my shelf...even if it takes forever to get to them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I spent a lot of time during the pandemic traveling around camping on BLM land and climbing. I could prob give good recs on where to camp and logistics on a new crag. Checking out different surf spots is a great way to get to know San Diego and the different beach towns. If you’re in town, I can probably point you towards some good food too;)
