ABOUT ME

Well, if you want to know what's hip, hot or happening in the Hague I am sooo NOT your girl! At least, that's how my students think about me. Sooo oldfashioned and sooo out of style. Sooo nineties. And ofcourse they are completely right!

PHILOSOPHY

My grandmother had two sayings. She actually had a lot of sayings and thought they needed to be said over and over and over again but these are the two I happened to remember:

"Hij die geeft van hetgeen hij heeft is het waard dat hij leeft." (He who shares what he has is worthy of living.)

and

"Onderzoek alles en behoud het goede." (Research / experience everything and keep the good.")

That's my philosophy in a nut-shell. Don't you just love grandmothers?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a newbie so I'm still in the fase of getting to know all about the CS Project.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no couch-surfing experience. I can hardly find the courage to confess to you that I have always been more of a comfortable Hotel kind of person. There. I said it!

But reading all the enthousiastic stories of experienced couch-surfers on this website has really made me want to be a part of this great community.

So maybe, in the future, I will have some stories to tell of my own and some other comfortable-hotel-couch-surfing-virgin will join as a result of that.

What a wonderfull world.

Interests

I love to snoop around second-hand bookstores, fleamarkets, arts & crafts fairs and countryfairs. You never know which wonders await you. It reminds me of my childhood-days as a treasure hunter in the backyard. Only, in those days I first had to hide the treasure myself so the "surprised" look on my face upon "discovering" the treasure demanded a lot of my acting-abillities!

I have a keen interest in psychology, antroposophy, naturetables and spirituality.
Sometimes, when I'm in the mood, I read Tarot-cards but I believe that you can only explore the clouds with your feet firmly planted on the earth. Therefore I love to take long walks through parks, forrest's, along the beach but also through the city-streets. The smaller, the better.

Music, Movies, and Books

I own a large collection of dvd's and an even larger collection of books. Unfortunately I'm a very lazy reader so almost all the books are in Dutch. But I do have quite a few children's books so maybe I can teach you to read a little Dutch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Truly wonderful, beautiful and exciting was the time I went white-water rafting in Turkey. I am no dare-devil so I chose a fairly safe voyage but it was thrilling non-the-less. And I even made a jump in the river from a very high rock. Well, it seemed very high anyway. Maybe it was just a little bit high. But how exciting!

Teach, Learn, Share

As I have been educated and trained to be a counsellor maybe I can help you a little further along when you feel stuck in a certain area of your life.
In a more practical sense I can teach you how to sew a button back on!

If you have any experience in reading Tarot cards I would love it if you could read mine.

And I would really like to learn how to play the guitar. So if you're traveling with a guitar on your back: you are very welcome!
