ABOUT ME

My friends would say that I almost always do what I have in my mind and that I do not care that much about career, social conventions and so on, but that I am a fine person. Now do not expect to meet a hippie or simliar person! If I am a hippie, it is inside, not outside. I am spontaneous, but I like some order in my life. I really love mankind and I think that life is and should be like a great novel: amazing, sometimes sad, full of challenges and adventures, but also periods of stability and even boredom. Not in vain writers are human!

PHILOSOPHY

Every human being is somehow specific, say, more one way than another, so everybody should have a personal philosophy... but I just don't care!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

27th of August 2009: I signed up for CS about two weeks ago and for now my participation is somehow limited to taking advantage of this very good initiative. Anyway, tonight I will join the CS meeting in Chicago, where I am right now, and maybe I get some information on how a travelling person can give and not only take from CS!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I made my first experience in Scranton (OH) and it was great. In Spanish, we say "Llegar y besar el santo", what means "Arrive and kiss the saint". Now I am in Chicago with my second experience and it is great again. The two persons, the one from OH and the one from IL, have more or less the same age, but they have a totally different mindset. Now they share something: this very delightful easy going hospitality! It's like in politics: once you share something with somebody, this turns a common playground the rest is built on easily. Too often, some powers try to make us believe that it's all about being one way and being menaced by the ones who are the other way, and not buy embracing the differences. We may never agree on everything, but sharing time and space makes you understand the value of the different for this world, specially for democracy. CS may help to spread this feeling all over the planet.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

It only needs to be well done and a honest work, not necessarily state of the art. Otherwise, I put it away. Victor Hugo's 'Les Misérables' was a very welcome enrichment, Ken Follet's 'The Pillars of Earth' not.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Being about to die is of course the most amazing thing that can happen to any human being. Maybe witnessing a birth of a living being causes a similar impression. I have been in the former, but not in the latter situation. Hopefully, this will change soon!
