About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live creatively

ABOUT ME

I'm a slightly-ethnically-confused twentysomething who was born in Costa Rica but grew up in the Arctic (known by many as "upstate New York"). I caught the travel bug at a very early age and have been plagued by it's ineradicable symptoms ever since then - which, I guess, is why I like Couchsurfing so much. The older I get, the more insatiable my desire for off-the-beaten track adventures becomes. Exploring even the most random, isolated locations on Earth makes me as happy as a clam!Things I appreciate: water, semicolons, good coffee, sharp wit, optimistic people, community-building projects, public spaces. If you make me laugh (which honestly isn't that difficult), it's quite possible that I'll like you. If you laugh at my jokes, it's quite possible that I'll marry you.I love to wear bright colors (especially in winter), and I need to live near bodies of water. I have an irrational fear of depths, which occassionally comes into conflict with my love of oceans. I wholeheartedly believe in alternative systems of consumption, and think that community is everything.Hands down, I'm a total people person. Give me a cup of coffee and three hours of an afternoon...and we'll have ourselves a great conversation :)

PHILOSOPHY

No hay mal que por bien no venga.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Honestly, I've only had positive experiences with Couchsurfing. I know it's not a perfect system, but it does attract an impressive number of like-minded individuals who are open, tolerant, and curious. Plus, it's a phenomenal source of local knowledge. In my various travels and adventures, I've used Couchsurfing as a resource to meet both expats and locals, sort out six-month-long housing accomodations in a crunch, meet new roommates, figure out visa situations...the list goes on. I've surfed in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and France, and have had a great time hosting thus far!

Interests

Being barefoot, swimming in the gorges, learning and teaching languages, bathing in sunshine, traveling on a small budget, eating bananas, laughing, having great conversations.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will gladly teach anyone how to dance salsa and how to make Costa Rican-style rice and beans - believe me, you want to learn how to make this dish.
