About Me
Hello everybody!
My name is Silvia and I am 25. I live in Brescia, a city in Northern Italy just in between Milan and Venice. I am a student at the University if Brescia.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I got to know about this way of traveling about a couple of months ago while I was randomly talking to a friend. I immediately thought it was an AMAZING way of traveling. I LOVE traveling and getting to know new places and people, such as cultures and different ways of living, which I think is pretty obvious if I signed up here. I think visiting a new place while staying in hotels cuts you off a huge part of what your journey should be. I think traveling should mean meeting people, making friends and contacts, making new experiences and most of all Learning. I've never couchsurfed before, but it seems to me that this is the perfect way of getting that all.
Interests
I have a strong interest in science (I'm currently studying in med school and I like learning about new researches and findings).. but I don't want to bore you guys with that :)
I also love traveling, learning new languages and people from other countries.. and I now regret not learning more languages. I just feel like I don't have enough time to do it now. I studied German in high school but I don't feel like I would be able to have a conversation, and that's the only language I've studied besides English. I wish I'll be able to learn more in the future! I want to see all the world.
I also love skiing and working with kids, I think they're so sweet and make me laugh a lot, they bring up the childish part of me.
What else.. well, let's leave something to talk about when we actually meet each other! ;)
- dining
- italian food
- cooking
- traveling
- socializing
- skiing
- languages
- science
Music, Movies, and Books
I grew up reading the Harry Potter saga and although some people laugh at me when I say it's my favourite book and I'm 22, it actually is =) so no hosts or guests that haven't read Harry Potter will be considered.. jk :P
"Just like heaven" is another book I love, I think it has the right mixture of magic, science and love and it has lots of good quotes. It makes you think about your life, the time you have and how you should not waste it.
As for music, I usually listen to the radio while I'm driving and I pretty much listen to pop music. I usually prefer singer-songwriters.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen the sunrise from a hot air balloon right on the Nile and the Egyptian desert. That was amazing.
Backpacking in South-east Asia was wonderful as well. So much different from where I live.
Being an au pair in Michigan, USA. That changed my life! I got less shy, more open to the world and the people, more independent and strong, more excited and curious about the world.
