About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Do all the crazy things I can before I'm too old to do them.

ABOUT ME

I am an extremely curious and communicative person, eager to learn, to discover, to experiment, to see new places and people. I am lively and energetic, tolerant and open-minded, moody at times, but always trying my best to be nice and friendly with everyone. I try to be as spontaneous as I can in every situation, to see the world with the eyes of a child, who knows no judgment or prejudgment.
I hate above all prejudgments and intolerance, as well as hypocrisy. I am honest and sincere, I say what I think.
I love to discuss, to exchange ideas and views of the world. I am fundamentally in love with the world=)

PHILOSOPHY

Life is time that has been given to us, and everything we can decide is how to arrange it. And I don't want to waste a second of it, I want to use it the best way I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I feel so lonely since my brother moved out and without a roommate, I really want to meet new people from around the world and have fun!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met people in the places I have been to and hung around with them, it has been great!

Interests

My greatest passion is language. I think that language is the most extraordinary thing human beings have created. I love words, I love to play with words, I love the way they can be ductile, the way they can be clear and precise, the way they can describe any image and express any feeling. I love the way a word, a sentence or an argument can be perfect. I also and particularly love the aesthetic of a language, the beauty of the way it is written: that's why the languages I love most of all are Chinese and Arabic. But language is so extraodinary not only for its intrinsic nature, but for its pragmatical role in the society: for me, languages are keys that open doors on people's inner universes. I'm trying to learn as many languages as I can, to be able to reach every kind of people, to get closer to people.
Music: While languages are the keys to the outer world and the inner world of others, music is the key to MY inner world, the emotional world. I'm music addicted, I couldn't live without my mp3 and I carry it everywhere, cannot get to sleep without a tune in my ears!
Travelling is another great interest of mine, of course! Can't stay in my place more than enough, gotta see elsewhere, gotta leave and learn. And once I'm back, I plan the next trip right away.
Then I'm interested in the representations of the world: art in every form. Photography, cinema, theatre, painting, visual art, plastic art, light art, body art...I'm still lost in this infinite and fantastic world, can't figure out exactly but I like it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like slow and poetic movies, such as Kim Ki-Duk movies, as well as crazy action movies, such as Quentin Tarantino or Michael Haneke, and also weird and surrealistic movies, just like Terry Gilliam or David Lynch or Michel Gondry movies. Moreover, I like some italian directors very much (Marco Tullio Giordana, Ermanno Olmi, Gabriele Salvatores) and I particularly appreciate Zhang Yimou films. Eventually, when I want to feel like a child, I watch a Walt Disney animated film, I love them all.
Music: deep deep deep music, music for my happy moments, music for my sad days. Music that moves me from deep inside. My three favourite songwriters are: Fabrizio De André, Led Zeppelin and Tool. Somewhere among and beyond them, I like rock'n'roll, grunge, indie, stoner, psychedelic, acustic, instrumental, darkwave, alternative, hard rock, experimental metal, post-punk, post-rock..
Books: Because of my studies, I don't really have much time to read books on my own, right now I am reading a lot of books on chinese history for my exams. Anyway I'm interested in chinese literature so lately I've been trying to increase my knowledge in this field and read some Mo Yan and Zhou Weihui. I also like some italian authors and french ones, but I can't really say I have a good literary knowledge, I know it's indeed very limited and I expect to improve it in time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've looked down the breathtaking 200 metres' Cliffs of Moher in Ireland and climbed to the 88th floor of the Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai, walked Tiananmen Square and entered the Forbidden City in Beijing, cycled the Hutongs and climbed the Great Wall at Mutianyu, seen the Terracotta Warriors and ran through the fountains in Xi'an, caught a glimpse of Mount Fuji and seen Tokyo from the City Hall North Tower observatory, been in the biggest church of the world, San Peter in Rome, and seen 18 original paintings by my beloved Caravaggio!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can mostly express all my passion for the things I like, but I don't know if I would be actually able to teach anything to anyone, since I am only a student, I have to learn first;) But maybe I can pass on my passion for learning, for life. We can talk about anything you want, I am curious about everything! (exception made for football: don't ask about football only because I'm Italian, I know nothing about it!^^)
