About Me

I enjoy traveling and hope to meet new friends and to exchange cultural experiences. I do not welcome guest who are just hoping for free accommodation but lack the desire to interact.

I've always been intrigued by the diversity of people and culture ever since our common ancestors set their foot out of Africa. How culture evolved through the environment we lived. I took keen interest in human civilization and world history.

Coming from a Chinese migrant background I realized how my Chinese heritage has since evolved or being retained in my adopted home land, Malaysia and sometimes how shockingly different comparing with China.

I speak English, Malay, Mandarin and spattering of Chinese dialects such as Cantonese, Taiwanese, Hakka. I find my diverse cultural exposure helps me throughout the world. Living in a post British colonial country exposed me to the language that made travel to most part of western nations a bit more effortless. Comprehension of Chinese characters helps me to read in Korea and Japan when I don't speak their languages. I was surprised how easy to interact in Malay language with Indonesians since the 2 languages were distantly related. How I felt a sense of connection in Hong Kong and Taiwan when Cantonese and Taiwanese were heard.

I travelled frequently mostly around East Asian countries especially Japan. However, I'm keen on distance travel with immediate aim of UK, Germany and Part of Eastern Europe.

There are so many stories to tell, so many cultural habits and languages to uncover, so many places to see, so much variety of food to experience. I look forward to share these experience with you.
