About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Curious, interested and playful!
ABOUT ME
I am quiet when I first meet people and then slowly warm up. I am deep and curious and love to laugh. I enjoy making connections with people and being introduced to new realities. Being active and exploring new places is important to me.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that people, life and the world are complex. Any attempt to simplify the human experience through binaries or cliches is false and misguided. I am here to learn and create.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I traveled across Europe and couchsurfed in Paris and Berlin. I had really positive experiences!
Interests
I care deeply about art (of all kinds), healing, justice and mysticism. My artistic background is in acting and writing but I also dabble in voice and visual arts. I practice yoga and meditation daily and try to learn as much as I can about people, places and things. Depending on what mood I'm in I enjoy hanging out with friends, making connections with strangers, meeting new people, reading, walking (I LOVE walking), pushing my personal boundaries to see how much more comfortable I can be in this world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have done and seen a number of spectacular things like climb mountains, perform in front of hundreds of people and learning to ride a bike at 25, but the things that stick out in my mind as awe-striking are the brief moments I've had with strangers where I've learned more about myself and life than any classroom I've ever been in. For example, when I lived in New Orleans I was walking briskly from a friends house to my streetcar stop, which was about a 25 minute walk (remember, I really like walking). It was January and New Orleans was experiencing a cold front that comes in every couple of weeks in the winter months. The cold in New Orleans is wet and frigid and will chill your marrow. So I was walking, shivering, wondering why I didn't wear enough layers to keep my body heat in, when an elderly indigent man approaches me and asks me how I'm doing. I reply saying that I was doing great except for one more layer of clothes, which would have made me perfect. Confused, the man asked "layer?" and I said "Yeah, I'm wearing an undershirt, a shirt and a jacket. I need one more shirt to feel better." The man looked at me squarely as we walked together into the clear night and said "Nah, what you need is a hat," and reached inside his coat and pulled out a red beret. "Here you go," he offered. "Oh, no, I couldn't possibly. I'm fine, really. Thank you, though." I was uncomfortable and stammering. The man looked down at the beret and back at me and said "Listen, I'm giving you the hat. You can take it or you can leave it." I looked him in the eye and decided "Ok, I'll take it. Thank you." I took the beret, which went perfectly with my black trench coat, and fit it on my head, my curls spilling out. Almost instantly the tension in the back of my neck released and my body relaxed. I was warm. The man and I enjoyed a pleasant conversation until I reached my streetcar stop. I stood straight, hands in my pockets and my new beret tilted to the left, and he continued on, into the clear New Orleans night.
