About Me

Hey everyone!

Okay, brief introduction.
Simon here. Grew up in Kungälv, Sweden and moved into the middle of nowhere with my family at the age of 5. From then on I've been outdoorsy. Played football my entire life (sports is probably still my biggest interest), finished high school, dropped out of college, worked odd jobs and served in the army for 1 year.

Been travelling for the past 6 months throughout Europe and Africa, now heading to the US for a couple of months to experience that proper southern culture before going back home again. On this trip I've had the honour to meet the most helpful strangers when hitchhiking, CS or travelled by bus and scooter. Fortunately I've had the chance to give back by volunteering in Romania, Tanzania and South Africa.

What else? I consider myself outgoing and open. I'm also competitive, addicted to over-thinking, will keep testing my limits no matter what and never turn down a meal. Food is too precious to be wasted. So long story short: travelling puts all of that together in quite a nice fashion. That's why I do it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want travel in simple a fashion, meeting genuine people who I can hang out with and have a great time doing so.

I'm also looking forward to hosting when I come back home, which I haven't tried yet. A good way to pay it forward and also keep in touch with the inner traveller.

Interests

Anything that includes sports, the outdoors or physical challenge of some sort. Travelling with camping gear and an american football and at the moment, if that gives you an idea.

Have a love for human history, especially geopolitical/military history. Also find areas of psychology, mythology and philosophy very compelling. Basically anything that can spiritually enrich life and give birth to new ideas.

Played the violin as a kid, further moved on to learn the guitar and now starting to learn piano. Want to learn a more sexier jazz type of instrument as well, like the trumpet or saxophone. Listens to a lot of music of course.

Since I starten travelling I've also developed a brief interest in different cultures and their art, music, food, people and politics. All connected to the history of the region.
