I am a Simon - a chilled out guy that has been described as happy 99% of the time! I was born in England but have spent the best part of the last 10 years living abroad in different countries on this beautiful planet. I like to live life with a smile on my face, and an open mind. Life to me is about experiencing as much as possible and travel is the best way to do this. I’m a lover of nature and music and can always be found with my guitar in hand.
I play guitar as a hobby, as a love, and as a communication device for all people! After playing for almost 18 years now it has become an integral part of my life and a meditation for me.
I like to stay as optimistic and cheerful as I possibly can in all things and prefer the simple things in life.
I like to treat others as I like to be treated with kindness, respect and a smile. I have not couchsurfed yet but have been part of hosting houses and I have loved the experience of meeting wonderful people from round the world! To be a part of this community is a wonderful thing and to be hosted would leave me forever grateful.

I’m on here to broaden my horizons meeting new people - I feel that is the best way to learn about life and experience new things! I wish to share my passion for life and music and travel with as many people as possible! After being part of a house that has hosted other travellers on Couchsurfing, it has given me the opportunity to meet so many incredible people and I have become a huge fan of this community. Being kind and generous to someone you have never met before is just a wonderful thing.

Musical influences vary from my playing style to what I love to listen to but what I’ve learnt from travelling so much is how great all kinds of music are from round the world! I’m definitely open to all kinds of music but admittedly my favourites are the more chilled out kind!

To say playing music in different countries performing gigs with friends I have met travelling would be too easy, but a fun memory is
abseiling down the side of a skyscraper building in Bolivia, dressed in a Spider-Man costume. One of my proudest things was helping set up a music education project in Tanzania!

I taught English for 6 years and have recently been teaching music so if you want any tips I can offer either! But all the places I have been have taught me many things, but I’ve learnt much more from a few special people in my life who I have crossed paths with. When you focus your life on learning as much as you can, teaching and sharing come more naturally. I like to think I’m on this earth to improve myself on being a better being :)

I can offer a smile and a friendly conversation, some interesting travel stories, and if you want some musical entertainment as well then I can provide that as well :) my belongings have more value to me if I can share them with other people.
