About Me

Hey travellers and hey locals! My name is Simon. I was born and raised in a ridiculously small and conservative village. After a couple of years in Cologne I moved to Leipzig in 2024, where I live, love and work since then. As a social worker I’m around people all day. Apparently I can’t get enough of them since I spend a lot of time with friends and family in my free time, too. I can’t wait to get to know you and whatever makes you the person that you are <3

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the idea of sharing - time, experience, room, ideas, stories and - if things go wild - a bottle of Sambuca :)

Music, Movies, and Books

During the pandemic I taught myself some guitar skills - not very professional. I can only play 8 chords. But it’s enough to pretend I can play and enough to sing along to some campfire songs.
Other than that I’m a huge fan of the typical „Kölsche Musik“, the music that is the glue of society here in Cologne.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was on a campground near Melbourne, I got invited to a child’s birthday party. She was the daughter of our neighbours. My English was very bad back then - or pretty much not existing. When I apologised for my lack of language, the girl, who has turned 8 that day, just said: „That’s not a problem. A smile doesn’t have a language!“ It taught me that language shouldn’t separate us and that a certain attitude can replace linguistic deficits. As a side effect I learned that children are amazing :-P

What I Can Share with Hosts

People say that I make a good vegan lasagna - I’d be happy to cook one with/for you.

I’m not only a social worker but also a mechanic. So if you need something to be fixed, I can try to give you hand.

Besides that I’m always up to share my interests, stories, points of view or my last muesli bar.
