I'm Simonique from Seattle. My family affectionately calls me Nique (knee-key). I spent 3 semesters (plus a summer) in Brazil as an exchange student, volunteer, and intern. Some highlights from that experience are volunteering as an English teacher the first semester at a NGO school for under-privileged girls. An internship in Recife with the U.S. State Department that greatly influenced my life and sealed the deal for my career goals as a diplomat. Spending Caranval in Salvador da Bahia, New Years Eve in Rio de Janeiro, and going on scavenger hunts with friends for a wine bottle opener to bring to our bon fire on the beach.

Currently, I'm beginning a new journey with the Peace Corps as an Economic Development Volunteer in Benin, West Africa. In my spare time, I run fan pages for the acting phenom that is Angela Bassett and I dream of one day owning a $10,000 ultra durable, flight-safe, carbon fiber cello so I can continue playing during my travels.

Interests

I enjoy theatre-going, jazz lounges, comedy clubs, music festivals, and any kind of dancing. During the day you can find me talking to myself, hiking, braiding my hair, or planning my next travel adventure.
