My name is Sinakhone Keodara. My friends call me Nakhone [Na-Con]. I'm originally from Laos but immigrated to the United States as a refugee with a political asylum in 1986. I'm a filmmaker. I'm friendly, fun to be around as I'm pretty spontaneous and have a great sense of humor. Oh, and I'm a proud gay man. I believe that being gay is a gift from God. If you have a problem with that, then we can't be friends. Life's too short, I only have room and time for positive people in my life. Hope to meet many new friends on this brand new adventure on Couchsurfing.

I'm a sober man in recovery and would prefer to stay with someone who doesn't party or do any kind of hard drugs. If the host drinks alcohol, that is totally fine. I just won't be joining you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a whole, I want to travel and see the world, meet new friends along the way and enjoy life to its fullest.

Currently, I have an emergency need of a couch to crash on (in Austin, TX) as I am attending the 22nd Austin Film Festival and Screenwriters Conference from October 29-November 5. My screenplay is a finalist in the 2015 Screenplay & Teleplay Competition at AFF and I don't want to miss this important event in my life. The place I was supposed to stay at fell through and I was turned to Couchsurfing.com. Thank God this place existed!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I volunteered a year of my time to lead A Peaceful Legacy: Campaign to Remove Bombs from Laos where I served as the Campaign Coordinator and we, along with countless efforts from many years of work from other volunteers, successfully implored Congress to insert an Amendment into the Omnibus Bill (FY2010) increasing funding earmarked specifically for Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) clearance in Laos.
