I currently exist in a twilight zone between being young and being middle-aged, floating around between spaces, friends and occupations. With age does not only come experience but also the realization that all you ever wanted is not within reach anymore. Although this realization hasn't dawned on me, the realization that what I think I want quite often differs from what I actually want has. So far the pseudo-philosophical part.

After a lengthy trip through the southern part of South America, I'm now 'based' in the Norwegian highlands where I exchange my sweat and my passion for cooking for those lovely kronor. I imagined myself returning to Amsterdam after being away for such a long time, yet the thought of calling the city that I love 'home' again felt surprisingly unsettling (no pun intended). Therefor I look ahead to 2020 as another year of going back and forth between places, with an emphasis on cooking, maintaining and extending my Spanish, and spending time outside.

This changes quicker than the political situation in China, yet slower than the current hashtag on social media. At this moment I like to wake up with the sound of Sixto Rodriguez, or Tash Sultana. And when I'm in the mood for electronic music, then I listen to German 'bummeltechno' (slow bpm, infused with tribal elements, and intriguing vocals).

My favourite film is Apocalypse Now, although I haven't rewatched it for quite some years now. And the last eye-opening book I read was Kerouac's On The Road: what a dazzling journey that was, with the restlessness as most recognizable element.
