About Me

I'm 22 years old, Irish, just moved from Berlin and now travelling South America with my friend Ciara. We are both open minded and love meeting and talking to new people. Everybody has something interesting about them whether it's telling great stories or being great to hang out with. So far on our travels we have met such wonderful people that have made the experience 10 times more lovely! Ciara and I both love Art, music and drinking beers with friends! We spend our time visiting art galleries, enjoying good coffee and food and walking around new cities. We are the perfect pair to travel together because we both love the same things and are both ready for adventure

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is such a good way to see new places and stay with interesting people. It's a great way for travellers to help each other out

Interests

Ciara and I have always shared a passion for Art. We both love drawing and visiting art galleries. I have a big interest in fashion and clothes and someday hope to make my own clothes. Ciara's dream is to become and art therapist because she is great with people and would love to help people to express themselves through art.
I love to cycle and I am happiest when I am cycling around Berlin on a sunny day. Ciara loves yoga and would love to improve her practice during our travels.
We share a similar taste in music such as the pixies, nirvana, unknown mortal orchestra, Kate Bush, the cranberries, Andy Shauf, Courtney Barnett, Mac de Marco, Skeggs and more..
We are very much social drinkers, which probably comes from our irish heritage but really enjoy drinking with other people, whether it be old friends or someone we just met. It's a great way for us to develop friendships with others

Music, Movies, and Books

I already mentioned a little bit about music in my interests, but we like all kinds of music and love sharing songs with people and discovering new bands. Reading to us is a way to relax and get away from reality. Ciara's favourite book is Raymond Carver's short stories "What we talk about when we talk about love". It enlightens a unique sense and idea about everyday struggles in relationships in a sad but humorous way. I love Irish literature having studied it in college and admire works by James Joyce and Samuel Beckett. Dubliners is one of my favourite books and one I can read over and over again.
Watching movies is one of the best things to do. Going to the cinema is one of my favourite hobbies! My favourite movies are Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, you were never really here, and natural born killers. I also love Wes Anderson and the grand Budapest hotel. Ciara loves blue valentine the harry Potter movies. The best way to spend a hangover/rainy day is watching movies in bed or on the couch.

Teach, Learn, Share

We really want to learn Spanish as we travel around South America. We have learned a little so far so would appreciate the opportunity to practice more. We also have a little bit of experience teaching English and hope to find teaching jobs along the way. The best way to learn about yourself is travel and find yourself in situations that you are not used to. Learning about other cultures and ways of living is very eye opening and is why we have decided to see South America.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Together Ciara and I are very fun and friendly. We can talk to people about everything. We can show you our favourite aspects of irish culture such as our language, our slang, our dancing, our music and of course the 'craic'.
