I love languages and have begun a campaign to become fluent in at least 4 by the time I'm 40. I like people and stories- if you ever looked at a leaf fallen from a tree as a child, looked real close until you could see it's main veins branching off into smaller veins and smaller yet, and then looked around in wonder as you realized that all those leaves carelessly scattered around that one tree in front of your house were just as intricate, and then had to drop the leaf and go jump in a pile because you couldn't handle the realization that there were trees all up and down the block shedding tiny works of art and it was just the beginning, you'll understand what I mean.

I grew up in Los Angeles, with a substantial stint of boarding school in India and a year in Italy after college. I like the rest of the world quite a lot, and spent last summer in Russia. I've been married once, broken my heart twice, made a lot of friends, and done some good work.

My current mission is to figure out if my ideas for how to learn languages easier and faster will work, and then build them out so people can use them.

I am new to couch surfing, though I've been hearing about it for years. I joined on a whim because an acquaintance wanted some social proof for her account. Generally, I'd like to have some more international connections and enjoy playing host.

I'd love to have some Italians come through so I can refresh my Italian with them; it's gotten rusty and is getting corrupted by Russian. And I'd love some Russian speakers to come through so I can get more real life practice with my new language. German I've barely begun, but you don't need to speak a language I'm practicing to come by.
