ABOUT ME

Hello!
My name is Samantha Ylva Beasley. I was born and raised in Southern California but moved to Oregon in 2010 to explore the Pacific Northwest and the Portland art scene.

Art and travel are my two biggest passions. I currently work full-time as an art model for painters, photographers and sculptors. While the majority of my work is based out of Portland (and many of the local art schools and universities), I also love to take my job to the road in order to travel and explore new cities and art scenes along the way.

Besides modeling, I also dabble in drawing, music (I sing and play the piano), writing and photography. My husband James and I take images on expired film with large format cameras (typically 8x10, and in his case, also 4x5).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My freelance modeling job (and wanderlust) takes me to cities unexplored on a frequent basis. While traveling, I’m always looking for potential friends/hosts that are willing to provide a place for me to stay for a spell. I’m friendly, easy going, and always happy to provide company or help with cooking/baking vegan desserts! (I have been known to make incredible vegan pies). I’m also eager to learn. Teach me about your city and culture! My ears are open.

Due to the incredibly small size of my space back at home, I am unfortunately unable to host at this time. However, if you’re ever traveling through Portland and want to have coffee with a local, get in touch! I’d be happy to show you around as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My very first couchsurfing experience was excellent. My very generous host and I watched sunsets on the beach in Seattle and barbecued with fellow couch surfers and his neighbors in his backyard, talking to charismatic Romanian and Brazilian expats.
