About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I finished a 10,000km motorcycle roadtrip through Europe this past summer. It was mostly through Southern Europe, with German, The Netherlands, and the UK worked in there.
I'm currently still spinning down from that experience while I study a Master's program in Maastricht, The Netherlands.

ABOUT ME

I try to go everywhere I get the chance to, even [especially] if it's going to be an uncomfortable journey.
I have learned that no material thing equates to the ability to say "oh, that particular corner of the globe? Yeah. I've been there. I learned how to...."
I also realize, though, that traveling doesn't inherently make you better. I recently read an editorial that described solo travel (which is my preferred way to travel) as "for the insane," and what I got from the article is that the author went on his trips expecting his travels to fix his problems. Personally, I think that traveling only teaches you more about yourself, and in his case, his problems.
I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on this!

The article is http://ricemedia.co/culture-life-solo-travel-is-fun-if-you-are-completely-crazy/

PHILOSOPHY

For every one thing that happened, there are an infinite number of things that didn't.
And you should never worry about them!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on here because I, like any other person fortunate enough to have tasted travel, want to see as much of this planet as I can! And I want to meet people who share that interest and build a network (and be part of your network)!

Interests

Flight! I could nerd out about the mechanics of flight, what those pod-looking things on the wings of an airliner are, air traffic control, all that for hours!

I also like car/engine work. If you have car trouble, let me know!

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh man. Music? Anything. You know how people say that and really mean "I like anything that isn't opera or country or whatever"? I mean actually anything. I guarantee I have something on my iPod from any genre you can imagine, and I listen to it fairly regularly.

Movies? I'm not picky. I don't like Seth Rogan humor (humor that is blatantly trying to be funny); I like subtle humor and appreciate it much more.

Books? Give me anything and, if I can find the time, I'll read it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm pretty amazed at things people do all the time and, because of that, have found a fair amount of the things I've done to also be amazing. One thing I did was drive 2000 miles (~3200 km) in a little over 48 hours. It was both terrible and amazing at the same time. I also ran a marathon with about a week's notice. That was more terrible than amazing.

Mechanics, linguistics, and European culture/history.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to make guacamole and mojitos. So, if you offer to host me and if the logistics work out (airport customs, etc), I would be glad to make you and your friends guacamole and mojitos. I'm exceptionally good at it.
