About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To appreciate every moment, every lesson, every opportunity.

ABOUT ME

Hi... Dear travelers, I'm afraid I must put my offer to host on pause for the near future. Due to my work and family life, I have a lot of travel coming up in the next few months and my schedule is too demanding for me to offer to host. Over the last month, my home has welcomed several couch surfers and all of the experiences have been very positive. I'm very happy to be meeting people through this group, and am very pleased with the experiences we're having. ... I'll update my status as soon as I am able to continue as a host. Travel well and enjoy!

About me: I've been hosting travelers ad hoc for years now, welcoming various friends of friends, and even trustworthy strangers into my home. I have a busy professional and personal life, especially since I have three young boys at home. I'm a down-to-earth California girl. I grew up in a small, farming town, and that made me very curious about the rest of the world. So I have spent years traveling and moving and I always enjoy finding interesting people. I enjoy good, challenging conversations. I'm a peaceful person, able to get along with most anyone.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is what you make it. We are the creators of our reality.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted several travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

After Hurricane Katrina passed over Miami, I was driving through the abandoned streets, littered with fallen trees and debris. My young son and I were surprised to see a fellow walking along the street, sweating in the blazing sun and hauling a big suitcase behind him. I noticed a Canadian flag on it and guessed that he was a stranded traveler. Sure enough, his hotel was shut down for lack of power, so I invited him to stay in a spare bedroom until he found a new place. He ended up living with us for more than a year and he continues to be a good friend to me and my boys. ... This is just one experience we've had. We've welcomed many people into our home over the years. ... After joining couchsurfing in 2011, I have hosted several travelers and I and my boys look forward to meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

As Duke said, there are only two types of music: good and bad.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, giving birth is a pretty darn amazing experience. ... Other than that, I've traveled a lot around the U.S. and Latin America and have met many cool people through my work as a journalist.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a good writer and if you're working on a project, I'm happy to offer my editing skills, thoughts, etc... I'm very good at organizing things. I'm fairly good at cooking, but it's mostly stuff that I've just picked up or invented myself. I have three young boys, so I know about children. I can also skateboard, play piano and I have lots of guitars and drums available.
