Music, Movies, and Books

I love lots of books, fiction and non. Some of my favorite authors are Ayn Rand, Christopher Moore, George Orwell, Raymond Chandler, Seuss, Thomas Pynchon.

I love music, I play guitar and some drums, and love to jam and mess around on different instruments with friends.

I like (in no particular order) Weezer, Catch 22, White Stripes, The Beatles, RJD2, Metric, Erasure, The Tragically Hip, Kaiser Chiefs, Mark Ronson, Beck, Tupac, Cee-Lo, Everlast, Lights, Al Green, Spearhead & Micheal Franti, The Fugees, Rancid, Brother Ali, Stars, Atmosphere, The Cure, Wu-Tang, Blur, Goldfinger, Sum 41, Ted Leo, Offspring, Reel Big Fish, Elvis Costello, Elvis Presley, Big D & The Kids Table, Beastie Boys, Modest Mouse, Bon Iver, The Bloody Beetroots, Mustard Plug, Planet Smashers, Felt, Operation Ivy, Oasis, The Libertines, Felt, The Black Keys, Jackie Green, Wilson Picket, The Stone Roses, Phantom Planet, Easy Star All Stars, Owen Pallet, Weakerthans, Franz Ferdinand, Violent Femmes, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Art of Noise, Joe Jackson, The Who, Stones, Common, Atmosphere, Hot Hot Heat, Doomtree, William Bell, Alien Ant Farm, Sloan, MGMT, Saukrates, Tapes 'n Tapes, Sly & The Family Stone, Super Mash Bros, Danko Jones, The Clash, Duran Duran, Gill Scott Heron, Joy Division, Sharon Jones, The Dap Kings, and the list goes on and on and on...

Movies are good. I'm picky about what I like, but easy to please I suppose. Nicholas Cage makes 1 good movie for every 2 bad ones, but the good ones are super good. I also like thriller/horror movies. Getting ripped and watching scary movies is suuuper fun. I also like Tarantino, Hitchcock, and an assortment of other movies. Conspiracy movies are lots of fun too, even just to consider if you don't want to believe.

I love to cook. I make a bitching stir fry and pasta sauce (if I do say so myself). I also do good potatoes, and I like making casseroles. Cooking is very relaxing. Sunday morning omelets (paired with Jimmy Cliff) are also fun, as is barbecuing. I had a grill at my old place but my new place doesn't have one. Sad face. But if you want me to come over and cook for you, I'd love to. Sandwiches are key, too. I love sandwiches. It's not easy to assemble a good sandwich, it takes a lot of love and care and planning and mayonnaise.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched a Mongolian horse race in the Gobi desert.
Climbed abandoned Soviet water towers in Tallinn.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook, so I'm always willing to learn how to make something new or teach someone how to make something. I play guitar and harmonica, and I'll gladly teach some music to anyone who wants to learn. If you play any instruments I'd love to learn too!
