About Me

--- Sorry, I'm not able to host anymore as I'm travelling now. ---

My name is Yegor, I'm a wannabe linguist, an avid traveller, and a pizza enthusiast. Above all I appreciate rationality and sense of humor. Can talk for hours about cognitive science, syntax or rare musical intstruments.

I translate moderately boring texts for living, study linguistics for my own pleasure and move my ass around the planet, mostly randomly. Before that I used to be a journalist and a tea master, a designer, a teacher and a street musician.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because hospitality exchange is one of the greatest and most natural ideas ever.

Music, Movies, and Books

To put it short, I love fiction and popular science in general. If you like J.L.Borges, Robert Sheckley, Dan Simmons, Peter Watts, China Miéville, Richard Feynman, or Richard Dawkins — any of those — we'll probably get along.

Preferred music is good rock, jazz and ethnic/world music. As for myself, I play mostly Balkan and Japanese music. If you like complex meters and strange scales, I almost love you already.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I've built a Pompeii oven on a trailer and then opened a moving pizzeria just for fun (have closed it 4 months later; totally worth it).

Once I hitchhiked through most of Asia for 5 months.

Once I've made a flute out of a human's bone (and countless flutes out of more common materials).

Once I've climbed mt. Fuji alone with no food or warm clothing.

So far, living is extremely frustrating but fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmm. Perhaps language exchange fits here?
