About Me

I'm generally quiet, but if a good conversation comes up I can get very excited and passionate. I'm friendly and kind and never want to cause any trouble for my hosts. I love talking about psychology, spirituality, and the evolution of thought and emotion. I would say if you're looking for someone to have a deep conversation with, I'm your person!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love seeing new sights, trying new things, meeting new people, and really feeling the place I am. I feel you can get a more unique and authentic imprint from staying with with the locals than always going on your own.

It always seems that part of my inspiration is movement. When I'm moving, the energy of what is around me pours in and through. My soul wanders with my eyes in fascination. What will come next? What is this thing I found? Perhaps there's a natural stress as to the trust or luck in the life of a traveler. Is this safe? Can I eat here? How does this work? I find traveling invigorating because of this movement. It's not only taking a train , or daydreaming out a car or airplane window. It's the constant thrust toward the unknown, new things, the pushes and pulls of highs and lows. The good and the bad and all things combined. Experiencing vastly different cultures can activate an observer within me, and brings me to a sense of unified understanding. You cannot travel without feeling. And, you will learn far more about life, humanity, and yourself, from traveling than you could ever learn from studying in a classroom. It is first hand experiences that push you to expand, and cultivate never-ending curiosity and it's resulting deeper understanding and love.

Interests

I went vegetarian at 7, and vegan at 15, so I've been vegetarian for 13 years and vegan for 5. I'm also interested in sustainable living, so I try to be as low waste as possible. I'm a conscious consumer. Things that follow my hope for a more natural lifestyle are being in nature, going on walks, hiking, sketching, doing art or playing the piano. However, excitement never evades me. Through all of this, I love trying new things (so long as it won't hurt me) and seeing new sights. Even if I'm vegan, I'm not picky about what I'll try that I can eat. I'm also not going to deny gifts if someone didn't know, as long as it's not meat because I will get sick.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a huge TV person. I like mostly children's movies or more artistic anime. The music I listen to is generally soft and calm, but there's some more upbeat things I like. Pianos, instrumentals, or world music are the majority of mine. I don't generally hate any kind of music, but country, rap, or metal are less favorable to me. There's so many books I like, but I always forget them! It's more relevant when someone brings up a book I like and I say, "I love that one!"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know if extraordinary would be the word to define my life, but it's certainly not "ordinary." I consider myself born in Monterey, CA, raised in Phoenix, AZ, and grew up in North Carolina. Since I've lived in so many different places in the US, I had 14 of schools. Since movement and travel has always been a theme in my life, I've done some unconventional things. I've been hang-gliding, zip-lining, rafting, horse-back riding, and certainly hiking. I've been in a helicopter. I had an interesting minor hypothermia experience, hahaha. I've shown my artwork at Carnegie Hall!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach people art (if that's their path). I'm not a therapist, but I like to see who people are and what they're really about, and what I can do to help them if wanted. I'm also good at critiques for art/writing if someone needs feedback.
