ABOUT ME
I'm a writer who just moved to Lima to (hopefully) finish writing my first novel this year. I normally write poetry and short fiction, so moving on to longer works has been interesting. I love new ideas and experiences, going about outdoors or in woods, exploring interesting sidestreets, or just being in away from the world with a good book, strong coffee, and nothing but time
PHILOSOPHY
Try to do just a little good in the world every day
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've gotten to meet and hang out with some great folks through the site! It's a really lovely medium to have while traveling
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
All thumbs up
Interests
I love meeting folks and hearing whatever they're passionate about. Love an open fire, late night conversations, engaging with the world and people with empathy and curiosity. Living what Wendell Berry called a "three-dimensional life". I've been fortunate enough to live in many places, and I've met some wonderful people along the way

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a big fan of jazz, old school punk and underground hip hop, though my favorite band's (maybe?) Radiohead. Depends on my mood. Those are my headline ones, but I'm open to lots more
And literature, of course. Poetry was my first love and I've mostly written in that, but I love lots of types of fiction also. U.S. Southern renaissance, late 19th century Russian, magical realism, folklore, post-colonial discourses. A few of my favorite fiction writers are Marquez, Faulkner, O'Connor, Borges, and Russian writers like Nabakov, Dostoevsky, etc. A few poets are Elizabeth Bishop, Wallace Stevens, Sylvia Plath.
For movies/tv shows, I can watch almost anything. Serious documentary, Harry Potter, art-house or b-movie horror, sci-fi. EXCEPT anything awkward. If there's an awkward scene with awkward characters I can hardly stand to stay in the room. It's too relatable. I feel terrible for those fictional characters in a totally contrived scenario
And randoms: theater, architecture, local breweries, hiking, camping, learning new recipes to cook, aaaand lots more. Just ask!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cliff jumping. Climbed mountains. And once this super rad guy who looked EXACTLY like James Earl Jones once gave me a thumbs up, on the dance floor, while I was salsa dancing (for the first and only time) with a complete stranger in Ecuador.
Teach, Learn, Share
Anything you got to teach then I'm down to learn. Always gotta cultivate that healthy draw to the opened flow of ideas and information.
