About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Strike a balance between work and play.
ABOUT ME
Grew up in Northwestern Ontario - a beautiful and underrated part of Canada. I lived in Vancouver for the past couple of years studying public health. Since graduating, I traveled around Canada and now I´m in Peru, learning Spanish and putting my degree to work: helping plan a nutrition promotion project with an NGO in Cusco.
PHILOSOPHY
Let your inner feelings guide your decision making. If you feel like wandering, then wander. If you feel like staying still, be still. By doing this we stay happy in the present but open to new ideas for the future.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have been living in a CS house for the past couple of months and have been loving the opportunity to meet loads of different people, share stories, food, and wine, and learn about the world. I´ll be travelling in Northern Peru and Ecuador come February so may come knockin´! Looking so forward to hosting once I´m back in Canada.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Though officially a couch surfing virgin, I´m living in a CS house in Cusco. Looking forward to surfing when I travel this February.
Interests
Good food, good wine, good friends. Travelling the world or my neighbourhood and having quality adventures to share. Turning off the TV/not owning a TV and instead having good conversation, reading a good book, and going outside. At the moment, I have a rooftop balcony that is taking up a lot of my time.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - Live music of almost any kind. Much easier to say what I'm not into: hip hop, pop, cheesy country. Right now I'm really into Fleet Foxes, Beirut, Neko Case but I'm always looking for new and different.
Movies - I don't watch a lot of movies and or pay much attention to what's going on in theatres. One of my favourite movies at the moment is Little Miss Sunshine - the characters, the cinematography...
Books - I don't have any particular favourites but generally enjoy those that teach me about people, a new place, or a period in time. That doesn't narrow it down! Recently, I read Sunday at the Pool in Kigali and would recommend it to anyone interested in love an chaos.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent last summer in the Canadian Arctic. Absolutely fell in love with the people, the land, and the lifestyle. I look forward to the opportunity, one day, to return.
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmmm...So at the risk of sounded nerdy, I'll describe one of the biggest lessons from my pulic health degree: social determinants of health. The idea is that our social, economic and political environment - for example, education, gender, occupation, socioeconomic status - have a huge bearing on our health status. This totally changes and broadens the way we can see health and illness. For example, obesity in Canada and the US can be seen as a ramification of the low affordability of fruits and vegetables not just the result of "poor eating habits". Its such an obvious but often overlooked idea.
