About Me
Hi! My name is Slava and currently I'm exchange student from Russia at University of Minnesota Duluth.
You can find me on Instagram: @slav.bask
For me, traveling is about meaningful engagement with places and people. My academic background in linguistics and international communication tells how I experience new cultures - I listen closely to how people speak, what they emphasize. Having taught children and worked in PR, I know how to find common ground with diverse personalities. Whether we're exploring Minnesota's North Shore or the backstreets of Moscow, I look for authentic interactions rather than just checklists. I enjoy helping fellow travelers understand the context behind what we see, always aiming for depth over clichés.
I am always up for having a fun and interesting experience, however I respect other people's space and personal boundaries. If you suddenly happen to need me, you can also message me on Instagram: @slav.bask

Music, Movies, and Books
To be honest, I don’t really have one favorite song or band - it depends on my mood. Though I’ll never say no to Adele, and lately I’ve been hooked on Damiano David’s new album.
Same with books - I just pick whatever catches my eye. Right now it’s Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh. It’s a bit melancholic but in a good way. Next week I’ll probably be into something completely different, though!
As for movies, my current favorite is Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris - I’m a total sucker for feel-good stories where dreams come true. There’s something special about simple, kind-hearted plots that just leave you smiling.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most magical thing I've ever done was canoeing down a river. There's something unforgettable about it - the perfect mix of physical challenge and just being surrounded by nature. Paddling through quiet waters, watching the landscape change around you, it's the kind of experience that stays with you long after you're back on dry land.
