About Me

A public speaker, solo traveller, a bit of blogger, ballroom dancer and a drummer. Past IT geek.

Basically, I dropped out from my university to explore the world on my own.

I've been travelling around the world since mid-2015, when it had been the moment I had decided to completely move out of my beloved country Poland. Since then I'm fully "on the road", living only with my backpack. I was hitchhiking around most of the Europe for a couple of months; and also used to live for a bit in Spain, Thailand and Vietnam.

Currently I'm staying in Poland, where I decided to settle down for a moment. Not for long propably, though, as I'm definitely a traveller spirit now ;) always trying to do sth interesting or meet new people. That's why I'm here. From my experience I can already tell: it's always crazy time with other couchsurfers, heh.

Professionally I'm working remotely as a freelance web developer ( www.jtom.me ). I also maintain a life/travel/psychology related blog , www.jackthenomad.com .

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get to know other places, people, and their cultures, obviously! To keep the life exciting. To learn that every person is a bit wild and has its own cool habits. To learn, that everyone of us is equal and actually very similar to each other.

So far, every experience I had on CS was a blast. Let's keep it rolling!

- public speaking. (I used to attend a public speaking club in my hometown for a long time; and I have experience as a speaker at some IT meet-ups and conferences)

- learning languages: Spanish and Russian for now

- self-development & education

- humans history; politics; wars; psychology; but also: recent fun-facts; popular reddits; music; sports - don't worry, I'm a normal person ;>

- ballroom / latino dances

- drums. i'm still a beginner though.

- meditation & spirituality - I started to 'pursue' those subjects quite well since my trip to SE Asia. Sadly I rarely have occasion to continue it, but it's always fun to talk a bit about it

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: a lot of them. Just a couple from memory which I watched a couple of times: "Donnie Darko", "The Butterfly Effect", "Limitless", "Into the Wild", "Requiem for a Dream", "Scarface", "Scent of a Woman" and TV-series like "Weeds", "South Park" and "Californication", which totally raised me up.

Music? Anything besides pop & rap, really. Alternative rock - been listening to it for years. Electronic music? also. I'm also a bit of music festivals veteran: so far I've been 7 times at Woodstock Festival, Jarocin [3x], Open'er [2x], Audioriver [1x], and soon, more to come.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In May 2015 I participated in "Auto Stop Race", which was a hitchhicking race from Poland to Greece. More than 1500 people started in one place at the same time just to hitchhike all the way to a beach in Greece.

Since then, I do hitchhiking in every country I'm in. It's as awesome as couchsurfing (did someone call it "carsurfing" already? ;] ). You've got to try it if you hadn't already!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you how to correctly say "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" in less than 2 seconds.

Or "Nazywam się Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz a moje ulubione przysłowie to Chrząszcz brzmi w trzcinie w Szczebrzeszczynie" (that's in Polish - so beware, we might need some vodka to make you master that).

If you're not interested in those useful skills, don't worry. We'll figure out to do something interesting in your/my location, maybe meet some other people, and basically, have a freaking good time. Most of the time, I'm up to whatever.
