ABOUT ME

I find it hard to describe myself on paper (or on the internet), I can be really quiet and timid or loud and adventurous. I'm really independent, but I think community and supporting fellow humans is incredibly important. I have probably seen more of Cuzco in a week than I have of San Francisco in the five years that I have lived near it. I love public transportation but sometimes long to go on lazy drives through the oak trees. I am intensely curious and want to learn how to do everything. I have problems with procrastinating.

PHILOSOPHY

Try everything twice. Don't let preconceived notions or other peoples' expectations get in the way of having new experiences and living life how you see fit. Tread lightly. Learn and share as much as you can.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I have a couch available (or some floor and/or bakyard space) I am always very excited to have couchsurfers stay with me. When I am living/staying spots without this option I still love to meet up with other Couchsurfers. I have joined groups and gone out with couchsurfers to gathering in various locales and of course try to visit couchsurfers and gain insights into other ways of living when I travel as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had an amazing time hosting people in the large housing co-op that I used to live in, as well as being invited into the homes of couchsurfers across the Midwest and in Europe. I have couchsurfed and hosted surfers through friends and acquaintances many times, so I am always excited to be able to enlargen the circle of people that I can share this experience with.

Traveling the world (obviously), getting to know different ways of viewing life, anthropology, languages (I'm determined to still learn a Celtic language), sustainable agriculture, gardening, hugs!, mycology (mushrooms are so amazing), music of the world (right now West African drumming), medical ethnobotany, social justice, vegetarian food, building community, cooperative living, photography, religion, cuddling, nature...

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

This past summer I went to the Rainbow Gathering in Colorado and saw thousands of hippies join hands in a circle in this beautiful meadow and meditate for world peace.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I think skillsharing is an amazing resource that all communities possess, although I find myself hard-put to think of specific skills I posses. While I'm still learning, I can teach you what I know about composting- both in piles and with worms, and I can practice Spanish, Dutch or English with you (which would help me too). I have a big kitchen and lots of cookbooks if you would like to experiment with cooking. Lately I have been doing a fair amount of fermenting and am trying to improve my breadmaking skills, which I would be happy to do alongside others. I want to learn how to make things of all types (from yogurt to haybale houses and beyond) and to spin fire.
