ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin.

I went to school at the University of Hawaii mainly because I am super stubborn and wanted to prove to people that I could actually get there, but also because I hate the winter! Sorry Wisconsin! Hawaii is awesome, it's so beautiful, the weather's amazing, and the beaches are awesome. I studied sociology with my focus in crime and deviance.

After graduation I joined the Peace Corps and was sent to Bulgaria where I have been living for the past two years. I work as a youth development volunteer, mainly teaching English in a primary school. I want to go into Social Work.

PHILOSOPHY

It doesn't matter what you are doing or where you are doing it...it's who you're with that'll make or break any experience.

You can do anything that you are mentally prepared for, it's life's little surprises that give us the most trouble. Attitude's everything...be positive.

Be nice and people will be nice to you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Never done it, but I'm really excited to try it with two of my friends who've had some great experiences. ...But don't tell my dad :)

兴趣

I like baking...mmm cookies. I like puzzle-ing = putting puzzles together. I love the summer and everything about it like swimming, the beach, ice cream, flip-flops, and fresh fruits! I used to play hockey and I like to ice skate. I like to travel, but that's probably a given on this website.

音乐、电影和书籍

I like country music, (don't judge me) and I think it has an undeserved bad reputation...give it a try people! But I like other kinds of music too like pop, hip-hop, oldies, even Bulgarian chalga...lol

As far as movies I like happy ending movies! Movies about the struggles and triumphs of sports (Cinderella Man, Remember the Titans, Miracle); I'm a sucker for movies with the fairy tale love story that miraculously works out (Pretty Woman, Sixteen Candles, the Princess Bride); some stupid funny movies (Anchorman, the Hangover); anything that moves me to tears is good (Armageddon, The Notebook (of course), The Lion King) Some others: The American President, A Few Good Men, I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting.

Books...hmmm...I recently fell in love with "Little Women"! It reminds me of "Full House", where at the end of every episode/chapter there's a little life lesson. The world would be a much better place if the "F-word" was fiddlesticks! But how could Laurie end up with Amy, the spoiled brat, when he is so obviously meant to be with Jo, and Jo only told him that she didn't like him because she thought that Beth liked him, and was just being a good sister, but Beth really didn't like him? Sigh!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Today I dropped one stotinka on the ground and I was in a rush, carrying two bags, in the rain and was just going to leave it there, but a young boy walked across the parking lot, picked it up, and gave it back to me. And after getting ripped off by a taxi driver, this simple act restored my faith in humanity. It's the little things in life :)
