About Me
🌍 From a Couch… to a Caravan of Cultures
It all started with a simple question:
“What if opening your door could open your world?”
My name is Maher, from Tunisia 🇹🇳
A husband, a father of three… and someone who once accepted a Couchsurfing request without knowing that it would completely change the way he sees people, borders, and even his own home.
At first, it was just about hosting travelers.
A guest from Iran sharing stories over dinner.
A German traveler helping my kids with their English homework.
An Italian friend laughing with us around a barbecue like she had always been part of the family.
One by one, strangers became friends.
Meals became memories.
And my living room became a small United Nations of cultures.
That’s when I realized:
Couchsurfing was never about offering a couch.
It was about creating moments that no hotel, no tour, and no itinerary could ever offer.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Hosting people from all over the world didn’t just bring the world into my home —
It pushed me to go out and see it myself.
From the deserts of Tunisia to the streets of Tehran,
From the chaos of Cairo to the calm of Southeast Asia…
Every journey changed something in me.
But at some point, hosting and traveling didn’t feel like enough anymore.
I didn’t just want to be part of the Couchsurfing community…
I wanted to build something for it.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
So in 2025, I organized the very first CouchCrash event in Tunisia 🇹🇳
Seeing travelers from different continents meet, connect, and discover my country together was a turning point.
And now?
We’re going even further.
I am currently organizing:
🚗 CouchCrash Road Trip Tunisia
A multi-city road trip that will bring Couchsurfers from around the world to travel together across Tunisia — not just as tourists, but as a moving community.
Because sometimes, the best way to understand a country…
Is through the people who open their homes to you.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🏡 About Hosting
My home is not a hostel.
It’s a family space I share with my wife and our three children.
If you stay with us, you’re not just getting a place to sleep —
You’re stepping into our daily life.
Shared meals 🍲
Local conversations
Maybe even a countryside escape if time allows 🌿
Hosting is available depending on work, family life, and travel —
But stays are limited to 2–3 nights only (non-negotiable).
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
⚠️ A Gentle but Important Note
Couchsurfing is not a dating app.
If you're here for anything other than cultural exchange, kindness, and meaningful human connection — this may not be the right place for you.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🔐 Secret Code
If you’ve read this far, include this sentence in your request:
➡️ “Mi casa es su casa”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Maybe we’ll meet one day over a shared meal,
on a Tunisian road trip,
or somewhere between stories and cultures.
Until then:
Live the moment.
Take the adventure.
Create memories that last longer than the trip itself.
— Maher 🇹🇳
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
"I'm here on Couchsurfing because life is full of stories waiting to be shared, places worth discovering, and friends I haven’t met yet. I believe the best way to travel is by sharing experiences and those small, memorable moments that make every journey unique. If you're looking for someone who enjoys meaningful conversations and believes laughter is a universal language, that's exactly why I'm here!"
Interests
The Trans-Siberian Railway journey is one of the greatest adventures one can experience, and it is my dream to make it a reality. Imagine departing from Moscow, traveling through vast taiga forests, crossing icy rivers, and stopping in mysterious cities rich with history and diverse cultures until finally reaching Vladivostok after seven days of traversing time and nature. I would sit by the window, watching breathtaking landscapes unfold before me, exchanging stories with travelers from around the world. Most importantly, I hope to have good company—people who share my passion for discovery and adventure, with whom I can laugh, share moments of wonder, and create unforgettable memories. It would be a journey of a lifetime, filled with stories and experiences that will last forever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1320 Kilometers, 43 Hours, and an Endless Adventure!
Picture this: an epic train journey starting from Tunis, passing through Annaba and Algiers, and finally reaching Oran—covering a staggering 1320 kilometers of stunning landscapes, diverse faces, and countless untold stories. On the way there, I took my time, spending a night in each city, savoring every stop like a connoisseur piecing together a masterpiece.
The return trip, however? Oh, that was an entirely different ballgame! 43 hours of nonstop train travel, with just an hour at each city to switch trains. It all began with a slightly dramatic train breakdown in Oran, leaving me racing against time to catch the Algiers train—making it with just 10 minutes to spare! But as they say, good stories start with a bit of chaos, and this one was no exception.
The Algiers train turned out to be the highlight of the journey, thanks to the incredible company I found on board. Conversations flowed effortlessly, laughter echoed through the cabin, and suddenly, the long hours didn’t seem so daunting. It felt like traveling with old friends, even though we had just met.
And then came the final leg: the Tunis train. There, I crossed paths with a group of Mauritanian friends, and let me tell you, the stories we shared could’ve filled an entire book. We talked about everything from culture to dreams, all while the train chugged along, proving that travel isn’t just about the destination—it’s about the connections you make along the way.
This journey was a whirlwind of challenges, laughter, and unforgettable moments. I’m already planning to do it all over again—and maybe even push the boundaries a little further next time. After all, isn’t that what travel is all about? The chaos, the adventure, and the stories that live on long after the journey ends?
