Hello! My name is Smaranda Popescu and although by bio says I’m 21, I’m 19 (Facebook wont let me change it). I was born in Romania but currently reside in Canada. I am currently going to Queens University to fulfill my teaching degree. I am on couch surfing because being a student in Canada is not cheap, and I really cant afford to stay in hotels but I won’t let that stop me from exploring. I live to learn, be it through others, or through finding out the working of this world on my own. I am passionate about working with people and being exposed to diverse backgrounds. I work as a wilderness trip leader. That means that I take groups of youth (ages 13-18) on canoe trips that range from 5 to 14 days. I love a challenge and can’t wait to see what this world brings. I hope you can help me fulfill my dream of travelling the whole world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a student in Canada I can’t afford expensive lodging so couchsurfing permits me to follow my dreams of travelling the world whole without going into more debt.

Jazz, classical, alternative, indie and really everything in between! I’m always open to new stuff and often end up loving it. I really enjoy reading philosophical writings in my free time but similarly to my music tastes, I. Always open to new stuff. Favourite authors include; Milan Kundera, Cheryl strayed and Stephen King.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am willing to share and teach everything I know! I am quite experienced in canoeing and camping which includes map reading, cooking and everything in between. I also play the piano, violin and the guitar, all of which I am willing to teach (fun fact: I taught the guitar to at risk youth for six years!). I aspire to be a French and Biology teacher so I would be open to trying my hand in educating in those fields. As for learning, I want to learn everything! Whatever you are willing to teach me, I am willing to learn!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am willing to share my knowledge and time with hosts. I can help with any tasks that need to be fulfilled around the house at any point. I am so greatful for all you wonderful people willing to have me in your homes.
