I work pretty hard, so when it comes times to get away I really cherish the trips I take. I tend to be a bit on the cynical side and definitely have a unique sense of humor. I'm told people end up really loving me or hating me, but some of my best friends in the world are people I didn't get along with at first. Maybe it just takes a little time for all of you to get used to me! Once you do though, only great things follow!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Leaving on our first trip where we'll really have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local culture if we can, and we're hoping to find some people who can show us around!

Interests

I really enjoy food and food culture. I love to cook and challenge myself to make new things, but I also love going to new places and trying other people's creations. In another life I might have become a chef, but in this one I just want to eat. There is something really inherently satisfying not just in enjoying a wonderful meal, but in sharing it.
I also really love to read and spend a lot of time buried in fantasy and science fiction novels. I most enjoy stories with some mystery or puzzle element that the reader can put together on their own. More thinking, less sorcerers and swordplay.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Standing in the ruins of the Temple of Poseidon in Greece, looking out over the water. I am definitely not religious, not even spiritual really, but that experience was so profound I can't even really put it to words. There was just a sense of serenity that seemed to overtake me and everyone else I was with in a way I had never thought I would experience. It was truly awesome, in both senses of the word.
