About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Work hard half the time so I can play hard the other half!

ABOUT ME

I come from a large family (11 siblings) which has helped shape who I am today - outgoing, adaptable, responsible, hard-working, and easy-going. I love learning and having adventures. I am not a good cook, but I love a good meal with a great glass of wine! I don't mind getting lost, and I hate schedules. I am a nurse and hope to get licensed as a midwife one day. I adore children and old people. If you come to my city I will do everything I can to help you out and show you around.

PHILOSOPHY

I think we all have a personal responsibility to be active participants in our global community. It is not enough just to be a good person and go about your business (while that is preferable to bringing negativity to the world, of course). I believe we should all make a conscious effort to make the world a more peaceful, happy, and all-around great place. I'm not an idealist, but rather an optimistic realistic. Respect for yourself and others is of utmost importance. My favorite motto is "work hard, play hard". I like to be active and get things done, but at the end of the day, don't we all deserve a little time for fun?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate in CouchSurfing by being active in local CS groups and online groups, showing people around my city, and contacting CSers whenever I travel. I have also been introducing my friends to CSing and they have all loved it (of course!).

Interests

I love to play pool, sail, scuba dive, read, take walks/hikes, drink wine, take road trips, listen to live music, learn new skills, play with kids, learn new languages, and generally just hang out with great people. I like to relax with friends on rainy days by playing Cribbage or Backgammon.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have a tv and don't watch movies. I'm sure I am missing some great stuff out there, but I'd rather be playing pool or visiting with friends. I like "boring" books in the history and biography genres:) I love reggae music, blues, and generally any live music I can appreciate and enjoy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing the Great Wall of China was an amazing thing for me - it is a physically difficult feat, and contemplating the history of China while climbing made it all the more meaningful.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make a killer shot on the pool table. I can try to teach you how to make chocolate from a machete, a cacao pod, and some sugarcane, just how I was taught from a member of an indigenous tribe in Costa Rica. I would like to learn as many languages as I possibly can. When I travel I like to chill out and soak up as much local culture as I can, even if it's just walking around the neighborhood or sipping coffee at the local cafe.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Honduras, Iceland, Italy, Lebanon, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, Virgin Islands, British, Virgin Islands, U.S.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Costa Rica, United States
