Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Sophie! I like travelling abroad, exploring different cultures, meeting all kinds of people, and having a little adventure from time to time. Currently, I work part-time as a graphic designer and also study UI/UX design to prepare for my future career.
I'm an introvert, quiet and reserved most of the time. Regardless, I'm quite chatty once you get to know me a little longer! I do not consider myself a goth, yet I have a keen interest in the gothic subculture and vampires. I also adore everything cute - for example, animals, especially bunnies! I have a few interesting tattoos and plan to get many others in the future.
I don't smoke or drink alcohol and always keep my environment tidy. Also, I'm quite tiny (158cm), so I require a little space as a traveler ^~^
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to meet new people with different outlooks on life, culture, music, religion, etc. Also, I believe uncontrolled mass tourism is bad in general for towns and cities. Tourists must always be respectful, mindful, and remember they're guests in a foreign land, so they must act politely. Besides, what's the point of travelling to places if you're not genuinely interested in local customs, way of life, and people?
No one knows the town, city, or village better than natives; that's why I'd like to see the authenticity of places I go to, not just the polished pictures designed for tourists.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to sooo many music genres; my favourite genres are, probably, darkwave/coldwave, synthpop, and a bit of post-punk. I used to be a metalhead as a teen, by the way!
My favorite artists are, last but not least, David Bowie, El Huervo, Nujabes, Perturbator, Lady Gaga, The Smiths, and DPR IAN.
When it comes to movies, I'm into exploring classical cinema; sometimes I'm in the mood to watch some arthouse, too. I am particularly interested in asian cinematography, especially Japanese and Korean.
However, I'm not a snob and can enjoy a silly family comedy, melodrama, or superhero movies in theatres with a bucket of popcorn!
Books? TOO MUCH TO TELL. I mostly read classical literature. When it comes to modernity, I liked Jay Christoff's Nevernight Chronicles and Empire of the Vampire; I also enjoyed Christopher Moore's Vampire series. His writing is really witty, if you ask me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I ditched my university studies in my 2nd year despite having a scholarship and top grades :D
I really liked culture studies, but the overall quality of lectures and materials was horrendous, and the overall community was not my cup of tea - none of the students were interested in studying like AT ALL.
I can enjoy a party occasionally, but I have no tolerance for those who slack off and have zero ambitions and aspirations.
I never ever regretted this decision :P
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you a bit of Ukrainian if you're interested, haha; also, I would be extremely glad to have a chance to practice my English with foreigners.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help with cleaning or cook something tasty; I like making sweets, so I don't mind baking a pie or some cookies for you :D
Countries I’ve Visited
