Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As of yet, I've been unable to truly participate beyond having this profile set up. Living with my parents carries limitations and restrictions and, unfortunately, a bit of over-protection. Being a college student contributes to my lack of funding (and, often, time) to travel. I'll get there eventually.

Interests

I love being outside, walking trails, wading in ponds, walking in cities--something I love to do, though I rarely get to do it, is urban exploring and I love abandoned places, but nobody around me seems to want to do that.

I enjoy fooling around with design programs, Photoshop and Illustrator can provide endless entertainment for me (I'm still waiting to "officially" learn how to use these programs). Sometimes I dabble in photography, although the most recent photography class I took was not very enjoyable and I am not "serious" about photography. I majored in art for three years until I realized that there's no better way to hate something you love than making it your major. Now I'm an English major, taking more of a technical writing route (as opposed to literature).

I love the beach but I prefer secluded parts or to go at night, but all of the boardwalks at the Jersey Shore are fantastic and I miss living nearby so much.

I love going to live concerts, and I am very lucky that we have an underground music booking company in town because the local bars usually feature cover bands, or just really bad ones. We used to have a place in Greenville called the Spazzatorium that would host bands from all over the world and put on shows for a $5 donation. Unfortunately, it has been shut down, but concerts still occur at houses and the local skate park (though they seem few and far between, or poorly promoted). I also live close enough to Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill that it's worthwhile to go stay with a friend and see shows there.

I'm always up for the usual stuff--movies, hanging out, video games, conversation, eating, drinking. I'm also interested in things I haven't done before.
