About Me

Hello everyone!
I'm an almost 20 years old, currently living and working in Luxembourg as an au pair. I come from Italy (Turin) and I'm taking this experience abroad as an opportunity to learn a new language, become sort of independent, and travel as much as I can before starting university. I might seem reserved, and sometimes I need to be alone for a while, but I'm always happy to listen to other people's stories and passions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When some friends told me about this site I got very excited, as it seems to be a very effective way to get to actually "feel" the place you're visiting. I think the only way to fully understand another culture and another society is to become, in some way, part of it, and I feel like this is much more likely to happen when staying in an actual house and getting to talk and know local people, rather then in a hostel, hotel or B&B.

Music, Movies, and Books

I wouldn't be able to say which is my favourite song, or my favourite artist, as they change all the time. Currently, I'd say I spend a lot of time listening to The xx, Sohn, Arctic Mokeys, Iron and Wine, plus several Italian musicians.
At the moment, I'm reading Norwegian Wood by Murakami (I'll probably finish it in a couple of days, as it's beautiful). I've read the whole Harry Potter serie multiple times, and I still find it amazing. I would also recommend "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury, "Lolita" by Nabokov and "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky. Oh, also "The Sorrows of Young Werther" and just many other books.
Painters: Munch, Magritte, Caravaggio.
Right now my favourite movies are "Me and Earl and The Dying Girl", "Juno", "Sing Street", "Begin Again", "The Prestige", "Inception", "Once", "Into The Wild"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done the walk of Santiago with a couple of friends last summer. It's been amazing, one of the most beautiful and peaceful experiences of my life. I keep recommending it to everybody :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I might look "not-italian", as I'm pale, with blue eyes and light brown hair, but, as most of Italians, I like to cook and share food with other people. It just feels very good to be all around the same table, eating the same awesome pasta. (I'm very stereotypical for what's about Italian food :))
