ABOUT ME

I am a musician! I play bass guitar and flute and have been involved in several bands and ensembles over the years. I grew up in London and then moved to Leeds to study Music at university. I stayed in Leeds for six years and have now moved back to London.

PHILOSOPHY

Empathy and honesty are the most important components of any type of relationship! Especially when hosting/surfing - it's important to be honest with one another if you're sharing a living space!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have moved back home to save money & look for work and so am not able to host any couch-surfers right now, unfortunately. My plan, however, is to move in to a flat with my girlfriend in the next year or so, where we'll be able to host people!

I am travelling to the US for a couple of months (June-August) though and cannot WAIT to meet lots of awesome people there through CS!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've just returned from travelling around the US and Canada, staying with many, many couchsurfing hosts! It was so incredible to meet so many different people and to get to know so many different cities!

Interests

I am interested in music, meeting and playing with musicians from all over, language, travelling, analysing feminism in TV shows, art, designing DIY gig posters & logos, etc. I am also totally into gaming (I have a tattoo of the Triforce). And veganism - I'm really into cooking awesome vegan food!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: classical, pop, musicals, punk, (all time faves: Sondheim, Shostakovich, Ani Difranco, Garbage, Rihanna, Metric, Anais Mitchell, No Doubt, Jenny Owen Youngs, Rilo Kiley, Jenny Lewis). Latest obsession: HAIM!

Movies: Legally Blonde, 12 Angry Men, Tank Girl, Pleasantville, Election, Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion, American Beauty, Ghost World, Cruel Intentions

TV: Buffy, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Forbrydelsen, American Horror Story, Community, The L Word, Pretty Little Liars, Glee, Lost Girl, Parks and Recreation, Grey's Anatomy (currently obsessed with Fringe). Also I just watched the entirety of Game of Thrones in a week.

Books: I like autobiographies (I read Malcolm X, Jeanette Winterson most recently), comics (Alison Bechdel, Ariel Schrag), fiction: The Millennium trilogy, Hunger Games, The Color Purple, The Wasp Factory, most Sarah Waters books.

Games: Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, Assassin's Creed, Arkham City - mainly old school N64 games, but have recently had access to an Xbox360!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was part of a queer ska/punk/riot grrrl band called Jesus and his Judgemental Father and we released an album called 'Kings and Queens' that I am very proud of!

Also this one time I went to a ridiculous amount of Metric shows in the UK and made a huge poster with 'ASS ASS ASS' written on it for the London gig. I made sure I was in the Front Row (!) and held it up during the show - Emily actually took it from me and was like 'ah, some of my best work' and I got super lucky and got to meet her & the band afterwards. SO GREAT.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach people bass guitar and flute! (Grade 8 flute & have played bass for 8 years). I am also quite good at vegan cooking and could teach you some Swedish!
