We are a couple from Uruguay. Sofia has just graduated from university, and Martin is a mechanical engineer student, currently on a scholarship in Sao Carlos, Brazil.

Later this year we plan to build ouselves a house (yes, with our own hands!), using natural materials, so we can move in together.

We really enjoy travelling, especially together: Exploring cities with only a backpack and a pair of good shoes... getting to know people from other countries and cultures different from our own, learning their language and interests, finding out that a good conversation can be found anywhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We're new to Couchsurfing, however, we believe it is probably a better way of getting immersed into the place you're visiting. Having the opportunity of being hosted by a local is so much more enjoyable and interesting than booking a room in a generic hotel where guests are just clients.

What I study! I love what I do, and I want to be part of the change to a sustainable planet (energy, transport, etc.). And for my spare time, I like to join with friends, have some beers and listen to good music, while enjoying a nice chat. (Martin)

Music, Movies, and Books

Sofia:
I am very eclectic in my tastes... I usually try to give things a chance before discarding them, therefore I enjoy things from different genres. I like rock, celtic music, folk, indie, pop, whatever catches my attention...
The same goes for books. I love Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, The Millenium Saga, The Pillars of the Earth, books by Neil Gaiman, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, Shakespeare plays, and the list goes on and on...
Right now the TV shows I'm really in to are Vikings, Game of Thrones and Marco Polo, although I'm a huge fan of BBC shows like Sherlock, Doctor Who, Luther, Misfits, Merlin... etc

Martin:
I am very open minded on music, In that I am like Sofi on that....
I am a big fan of Iron Maiden, and like to read, allthough I dont do it so often nowadays. Some of the movies I have most enjoyed are Interstellar, Lord of The Rings, Snatch and Wild Tales. About TV shows, I watch them with Sofia, so basically the same ones she wrote about!
